The Students' Union is committed to the safety of their students. One of the ways in which we try to ensure you will get safely home is by providing this free bus service, funded by UBU with a contribution from Bradford College. Two full-time drivers and a team of chaperones help to run the bus - contact the JobShop if you are interested in a position of chaperone (http://www.careers.brad.ac.uk/jobshop/student/index.php)/
Frequently Asked Questions about the UBUS Service:

I Live Outside The Two-Mile Radius; Can I Still Use The Ubus?
It is still possible to use the UBUS even if you live outside the two-mile radius at the driver's discretion. Give the driver your destination BEFORE you get on the bus. The driver can then decide if he or she is able to take you all the way home, or part of the way. If the driver can only drop you part of the way, agree a safe drop-off point by a bus stop or taxi rank so that you can continue your journey from there.

What If I Want To Walk The Rest Of The Way Home?
This is not recommended, especially if you are on your own. However the choice is yours; agree with the driver before you set off.

I Was On The Bus First; Why Am I Being Dropped Off Last?
You will appreciate that many customers may live in the opposite direction to you. The driver must plan his journey according to the needs of his schedule. For example, if the next pick-up is the Management Centre he will want to head in that direction last. Please be patient if this happens.

Do I Have To Wear My Seatbelt?
YES: It is for your own safety that you wear your seatbelt. You might not be covered by the insurance company if there was an accident and you weren’t wearing your seatbelt.

Why Doesnt The Driver Drop Me Off At My Door?
It is our aim to drop you off outside your home and wait until you enter; however, this may not always be possible. For example, it might be impossible for the bus to turn back round if you live on a narrow road where cars are parked either side, thus, obstructing the manoeuvring of the bus. It is illegal for the driver to reverse the bus back into a main road. The main problem with waiting for people to enter their homes is the time consumption: because of the very busy timetable it would be impossible to wait and still maintain the schedule. However, if there is a reason why you would like to be seen entering your home before the bus leaves, please make a special request when you get on the bus and the driver will do his best to comply.

Can I Use The Bus To Go To The Supermarket?
Yes, at the driver’s discretion. However, the main purpose of the UBUS is to take customers to their home and it is these customers who have priority if this situation arises.

What Do I Do If I Have A Complaint?
Please put your complaint in writing and email this to ubus@bradford.ac.uk and we will respond asap.

If The Bus Is Not There, How Do I Know If I Have Missed It Or If It’s Late Back?
You can check with Security at Richmond Reception and if they do not know they will be able to contact the driver to find out when it will be due back.
